The Activities in the Park program was developed by Council as part of the Get Mooving Greater Shepparton Initiative.
The program provides an opportunity for residents and visitors to explore our parks, playgrounds, facilities and pools and participate in a number of free and low cost activities encouraging people to engage with their community, be outdoors and be physically active.

Giant Murray Cod - Australia's newest BIG thing
Meet Codfrey, Australia's largest Murray cod, measuring in at 16 metres in length. It's the newest addition to Australia's BIG THINGS.
Located 20 minutes south of Shepparton at the Arcadia Native Fish Hatchery, 200 Ross Road Arcadia.
The visitor fishing pond has also been restocked, so try your luck casting a line. Catch limits, sizes and licence requirements apply.
Kaiela Arts School Holiday Program April 2025
Kaiela Arts are excited to welcome young artists to their School Holiday Program April 2025! Designed to encourage self-expression, engage with cultural connection and hands-on learning in a fun and supportive environment – these FREE programs are for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children aged 8–12 years living in or around Greater Shepparton.
Choose from four creative workshops that explore different techniques guided by experienced artists, Tarn Parker and Chloe Jones. Join us for an inspiring school holiday connecting with culture, learning, and having fun!

Moooving Art Community Moooral
We’re excited to bring together people from throughout our region, (and beyond) to showcase their artistic individuality, blossoming into a community mural for all to experience. The Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre, invite all artists, of all ages and abilities to come into the centre and create their very own miniature masterpiece. Artistic licence is yours to invoke, create your own unique design, or use one of our many templates. Your artwork can then be affixed to our large scale Moooving Art Moooral Board, creating a unique mural, focusing on community connection through art, and celebrating our unique individuality.

Museum of Vehicle Evolution
MOVE is a world-class transport museum located in Shepparton, Victoria. MOVE displays motor cars, motorbikes, trucks, buses, and much more.
Learn about the legends of the road transport industry and their machines in the Kenworth Dealer Pavilion's "Avenue of Legends." MOVE also includes; The Furphy Museum, The Farren Vintage Bicycle Collection, The Dick Clayton Collection of gramophones, telephones, and radio, and the extraordinary Loel Thomson Costume Collection. The collections are displayed in a contemporary and interactive exhibition space.
MOVE is a destination offering coffee and dining at the Milestone Café, MOVE Shop for a gift, keepsake, or motoring accessory, and a variety of stores within the Emerald Bank precinct to enjoy.

Ride, scoot or walk to Kidstown, around the Lake, out to the Botanic Gardens, MOVE or Jordan's Bend.
Murchison and Dookie Rail Trails
Shepparton & Goulburn Valley is home to not one, but two Rail Trails in Dookie and Murchison. The Dookie Rail Trail offers a short, scenic ride for cyclists through a classic Australian cropping landscape.
The Murchison Rail Trail follows part of the former Rushworth-Murchison to Melbourne railway, and offers a short, scenic cycle or walk through the significant river red gum wetlands of Doctor’s Swamp.
Australian Botanic Gardens
Stop and smell the fresh country air at the Australian Botanic Gardens, in Kialla.
Mount Major
For the mountain bike enthusiasts there is a purpose built mountain bike park at Mt Major near Dookie, providing a variety of downhill and cross country circuits.
For the hiker, take the Mulana nin iyoga walking trail to the top of Mount Major. This 4.6km return walk offers spectacular views in spring.
Shepparton Tower
Burn off that school holiday energy climbing to the top of the Shepparton Tower.

Bird Bingo
Collect a River Connect Bird Bingo sheet from the Visitor Centre and take a stroll with the family around Victoria Park Lake. How many different bird species can you find?
Wetlands are among Victoria’s most valuable and endangered water environments. They provide a safe place for local wildlife and play a critical role in improving water quality. The Victoria Park Lake has a constructed wetland composed of a series of ponds planted with indigenous water plants and is home to many different bird species and wildlife.

PLAY grp are running school holidays OPEN PLAY sessions for children aged over 6 months. These sessions allow the children to explore a variety of sensory and messy PLAY activities and engage in physical MOVE activities in their indoor and outdoor play areas. This is a great way to meet up with other parents and plan your kinder/school playdate with friends!

Explore the history of Tatura and district including the history of irrigation in the Goulburn Valley and unique history of the seven internment and POW camps in the area in WWII.
