SAM Camp returns to bring a week of art and creative inspiration to kids and teens aged 5 to 17! Whether your young artist loves to experiment and learn new skills, or prefers a more casual session of crafting, our exciting mix of hands-on workshops and drop-in family sessions has something for every age and interest. SAM Kids Art Trail

Watercolour Landsapes with Oriana Teasdale

Learn to layer a landscape in watercolour with this hands-on painting workshop! Led by local artist Oriana Teasdale, kids will take inspiration from exhibitions at SAM, discovering everything from washes of colour to creating texture to make their own unique watercolour painting.

This workshop is suitable for kids aged 5-12. All participants must be accompanied by an adult. 

Picasso On the Road

SAM Camp is back on the road, and this time we’re coming to Kialla Central and Congupna with a SAM Van-load of art activities to keep kids busy and creative these school holidays. Drop in to discover hands-on crafts from collage to sculpture, all inspired by our upcoming exhibition Facing Modernity: Degas to Picasso.

This workshop is suitable for kids aged 5-12.
All participants must be accompanied by an adult. 

Wonky Pot Painting

Get glazing and decorate your own weird and wonderful wonky pot in this hands-on workshop! Kids will explore ceramics from the SAM Collection for inspiration before diving into decorating their own pre-made pot, experimenting with colours and shapes to produce their own uniquely designed ceramic.

Each piece will be professionally clear-glazed and kiln-fired after the workshop, ready for collection once finished.

This workshop is suitable for kids aged 5-12.
All participants must be accompanied by an adult. 

Spin It! Intro to Wheel Throwing

Get behind the wheel in this exciting pottery workshop for teens! Over two hours, participants will learn the basics of working with clay on a pottery wheel, experimenting with forming simple vessels to fire in the kiln.

Ceramics can be very messy – participants are encouraged to bring a towel and wear clothing they don’t mind getting dirty.

This workshop is suitable for kids aged 13-17.
Price includes glazing and firing services.
