Merrigum

Merrigum is a thriving rural township in the west Goulburn Valley irrigation area and located midway on the railway line between Kyabram and Tatura.

The name Merrigum is thought to be derived from an Aboriginal word meaning little plain.  Its primary industries are fruit growing and dairy farming.  Visitors to Merrigum can be taken back in time with a visit to the Merrigum Museum which provides an extraordinary range of displays from the past.

Eat like a local at the Railway Hotel or picnic with the family in the park across the road as you explore some of the Moooving Art herd in Judd Park. In the warmer months, cool off at the Merrigum Pool and Splash Park. Next door to the splash park is the Merrigum Skate Park and Basketball Half Court.

Dunyak Moira Catch and Release Fishing Lagoons are located in Morrissey Street. Established to celebrate out wonderful native fisheries and appreciate the rich indigenous culture. You can fish from pontoons at the Burnanga (Cod) reservoir and from three bank sides on the Gangupka (Yellowbelly) reservoir. Open dawn to dusk Fridays - Sundays and School Holidays.
