The sculpture depicts a horse and rider and signifies the Battle of Beersheba and local solider, farmer and politician, Sir Murray Bourchier.
It was designed and partially completed by Paul Smits who passed away unexpectedly and finished and bronzed by Ewen Coats from Coates Studio Foundry.
Council joined with the Sir Murray Bourchier Advisory Committee including Shepparton RSL and family of the late Sir Murray Bourchier and worked over a number of years to bring the sculpture to fruition.
Take a moment to stop and reflect and learn more about Sir Murray Bourchier and his accomplishments next time you’re in the area!
