The Shepparton Heritage Centre Museum is the custodian of Shepparton's proud past. Housing over 7,000 items with focused exhibitions and displays changing regularly. Engaging all age groups with indoor and outdoor displays. Providing activities for the whole family, school and community groups to enjoy.
The Museum is built around Shepparton's oldest surviving building: The Public Hall of 1873 (later used as the Foresters Hall). It houses four galleries, an archive storage bay, and from 1995 a replica colonial cottage that provides kitchen, toilet and meeting/conference room.
The Shepparton Family History Group Inc. also use the cottage for their library/archives and have a separate research room (open certain days).
This Historic Precinct is the hub of old Shepparton, once home to the punt crossing of c.1850, and related Bush Emu Inn. The riverboat wharf of 1880 still stands, now the start of a scenic walking track along the river.
