Symbolising regeneration, optimism and inspiration, Dookie is celebrating the transformation and new life of its iconic sugar gum.
Located on the main street of Dookie and despite the drought, the beautiful old gum recently blossomed with a flourish of 150 large spectacular red flowers.
The fabulous handmade aluminium blooms (30cm in diameter and weighing approximately 100g each), were designed and created by local artist Andrew Sands from The Dookie Artists Tree, was supported and funded by Dookie Arts and the Greater City Shepparton Council.
Reflecting a new era for this iconic tree, the blossoms inspire and uplift the community, beautify our streetscape and support local businesses by adding to the Dookie visitor experience. We hope this tree will become an iconic landmark and yet another reason to visit the creative district of Dookie.
