Arcadia Native Fish Hatchery Visitor Centre

Directions: Head south from Shepparton via Shepparton-Seymour Road/Goulburn Valley Highway. Take the Gribben Road exit. Turn left onto Newham Road, and follow for 1.7km. Turn right onto Ross Road, and follow for 1.9km. The Arcadia Native Fish Hatchery Visitor Centre will be on your right.

The Arcadia Native Fish Hatchery Visitor Centre, located 20 minutes south of Shepparton, gives fishers and their families a chance to learn about freshwater native fish production in Victoria, while going for a fish themselves!

Arcadia Native Fish Hatchery Visitor Centre

Featuring an all-weather shelter with an enclosed exhibition space, the centre includes displays and information about our iconic Murray cod and how we grow them at Arcadia.

What to expect on your visit:

  • Information on Arcadia's production of native fish and their cultural significance to Indigenous Victorians.
  • Fishing at the centre's fish-out pond, stocked regularly with catchable-size Murray codsilver perch, and golden perch (catch limits apply - see our Recreational Fishing Guide for more).  Visitors should supply their own fishing gear.
  • Free electric barbecue/picnic facilities.
  • A fish-themed playground and play area for kids.
  • For fishers camping nearby there are free toilet and shower facilities.
  • Please note a valid Victorian Fishing Licence is required to utilise the Fish-Out pond (unless exempt) - CLICK HERE for more information about Fishing Licences.

The Arcadia Native Fish Hatchery Visitor Centre and activity precinct was funded by a $3 million investment from the Victorian Government's Regional Tourism Investment Fund (RITF).

Open seven days a week.
5am to 10pm during daylight savings months (October to March).
9am to 5pm (April to September)
