Things to do on your journey can be found at Shepparton & Goulburn Valley.

FRIDAY 7th JUNE - MELBOURNE to SEYMOUR AND SHEPPARTON

Departing Southern Cross Station at 11:46am, the train will run express towards Seymour, reminiscent of the glory days of 'The Spirit of Progess'. After the train departs Melbourne, listen to the engines work hard as we climb the famous Glenroy Bank, through the northern suburbs and into regional Victoria. After passing through the volcanic plains surrounding Wallan, our train will climb to the summit of the Great Dividing Range at Heathcote Junction and pass through the familiar bushland of the northeast. Arriving in the historic railway town of Seymour, there will be time to explore the town or have lunch at one of the local establishments between 1:30pm and 3:10pm while the locomotives are turned and serviced. From here the train will continue north, passing through the towns of Nagmbie, Murchison East, Toolamba and Mooroopna. Wave to the locals as they see the first steam train on the line in 5 years, before arriving into Shepparton at 5:26pm.

V/Line services connecting back to Melbourne can be boarded at Shepparton or Seymour.

SATURDAY 8th, SUNDAY 9th & MONDAY 10th JUNE - SHEPPARTON SHUTTLES

Climb aboard as we operate our popular steam train shuttles from Shepparton Station on a 50 minute return journey. A perfect train ride for the whole family.
Take a seat in our heritage compartment style carriages with beautiful wood veneer panelling, pressed tin ceilings and opening windows to fully experience the steam era!
After departing Shepparton, we will head north out of town. Wave to the onlookers as we parallel the Goulburn Valley Highway, and make our presence known through the towns of Congupna and Tallygaroopna. Take in the countryside from the comfort of your compartment as we travel 20km out of town, before heading back at a faster pace and returning to Shepparton.

All shuttles depart from and return to Shepparton Station. Passengers will not be able to join/leave the train during the journey

MONDAY 10th JUNE - SHEPPARTON to SEYMOUR or MELBOURNE

Departing Shepparton at 2:00pm, join us as we make an afternoon of the journey back to Melbourne. We will make our first stop at Seymour between 3:30pm and 4:20pm, where the locos will top up with water. After working hard up the Great Dividing Range and a spirited run back down to Melbourne, we will arrive at Southern Cross at 6:18pm, ending a great weekend in the Goulburn Valley.

V/Line services connecting back to Shepparton can be boarded at Seymour or Southern Cross.

- THE VINTAGE TRAIN -

Ride with us onboard 'The Vintage Train’, fully restored by Steamrail as an important part of Victoria’s rail heritage.  Our steam locomotives are coal or oil fired and date from 1889 to 1952, while the carriages range from as early as 1906.  The train features beautiful timber work & pressed-tin ceilings, walk-through corridors, opening windows and comfortable compartment style seating.

- ON-TRAIN SERVICES -

Our on-train facilities include a kiosk which stocks a wide range of light refreshments, snacks and hot & cold drinks. A licensed bar will also be operating, serving a range of beers, wines and spirits. A range of souvenirs will also be able for purchase on board.
