LESS IS NECESSARY -- A workshop on burnout and pushing back for our local creative sector.

The arts sector is burning out. All over the country, more and more creative workers are leaving the sector and more creatives finding they can no longer afford to make work. But this isn’t just an unfortunate side effect of working for the art forms, organisations or communities we love, it’s the predictable (and avoidable) result of being asked to do too much, with too little, for too long.

Writer, consultant, and self-described rabble-rouser Kate Larsen has been naming this crisis when others would not. Her #LessIsNecessary campaign reframes self-care, duty of care and the idea of doing less as selfless, not selfish; not a failure of ambition, but a strategic and deliberate survival strategy - for us as individuals and for our sector as a whole.

In this session, we invite local creatives, creative workers, managers, leaders and Board members in Greater Shepparton to come together for an honest conversation about arts sector burnout: what's driving it, whose responsibility it is to address it, and what practical steps we can take.

This won’t be a lecture. It'll be a frank and participatory workshop grounded in the reality we’re all living through. Come ready to think, share and connect with your peers, and leave with useful tools for supporting your own practice or teams.

Because less isn't just possible. It's necessary.
