Join us for a FREE informative session exploring how Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) can support separating families when family violence is a factor. This session outlines how practitioners prioritise respect, safety, and self-determination, while working with both the person using violence and the affected family member within a non-collusive, trauma-informed framework.
We’ll talk about the impact of family violence on children, the importance of MARAM-informed assessment and referral, and how practitioners determine whether FDR can offer a safe, supported environment for structured conversations about parenting arrangements or property division.
Where it is assessed as safe to mediate, attendees will learn how FDR can support separated families with understanding and implementing safer future interactions for themselves and their children, and assisting them with developing child-focused parenting agreements.

This session will be presented by the Shepparton Family Relationship Centre and is being provided as part of the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence events offered by Greater Shepparton City Council and Goulburn Integrated Family Violence Services Executive. It can be offered free to the community thanks to funding received by Greater Shepparton City Council for the Free from Violence Local Government Program (Victorian State Government), and Respect Victoria’s 16 Days of Activism grassroots initiative.
