An exhilarating world-class fest of piano music showcasing Australia’s brilliant young classical pianists.
The biennial Australian National Piano Award returns for a week of solo recitals at Riverlinks Eastbank in Shepparton.
Each contestant plays 2 recitals of 45 minutes, after which the 3 adjudicators select 5 semi finalists, and after the semi final, 3 finalists are selected to play in the Saturday night grand final. Contestants are hosted by local families during the Award week.
Selected pianists will strive to win over $70,000 in prize money as they perform impressive classical masterpieces by Bach, Haydn, Schubert, Mozart, Beethoven and many other composers.
Repertoires throughout the inspirational recital series will feature music from the Baroque, Classical, 19th Century Romantic and French Impressionist eras, as well as music written after 1950, including works by Australian composers.
In the lead up to the grand final, three adjudicators will listen intently and appraise every performance, while audiences can vote for their favourite pianist in the Lorna Speechley Memorial Prize for the People’s Choice.
