Apple Hero of the Week

Inspired by apples in the exhibition as well as in our name and regional DNA, we will create a weekly food where apple is the hero ingredient, making the most of our world-class apples from the Shepparton region. The idea is to reconsider the importance of the humble apple not just in food, but also the Shepparton economy and identity, while savouring an apple-forward food.

The Gelato Palette (pictured)

Featuring six flavours of gelato made from fruit and dairy produce from the Goulburn Valley presented on an artist’s palette. Flavours will be seasonal, reflecting the exhibitions commitment to landscapes captured in a moment in time, providing a taste excursion through our region’s orchards and farms.

The Gelato Experience

Gelato classes offering the opportunity to learn how to make gelato from first principals. The class will begin with gelato tasting, with gelato makers from Apple Republic explaining the flavours and some of the inspiration behind different products, before making two types of gelato, each of which will feature a local ingredient as the hero. These could include Apple Pie, Green Apple, Chocolate Orange, Red Apple, Vanilla, or a range of other flavours depending on the season. Participants will enjoy a complementary coffee and sample the Apple Hero of the Week while making their batch, and will get to take home two 500 ml tubs of their gelato at the end of the course.
